Chunky Knits + Feminine Florals

| Sweater | Skirt (Similar)|

After a week in sunny Arizona, I was dreading coming home to the cold weather. With a little luck from the weather gods it has been in the 50's, which is unheard of in November in Iowa. I was totally excited about getting to wear one of my favorite looks from Arizona one more time until the cold front hit home.

As I have said before, I love pairing sweaters and skirts together. I absolutely love the color of this sweater and it makes a great transitional piece into spring. I paired it with a skirt from Nordstrom Rack by Melrose & Market, but I have to admit there is a story behind it.

So let me give you a little background information, I have been in fashion design most of my life other than my last couple years of college, so cutting things up to make new creations is something I am all too familiar with. I found this skirt and absolutely loved the design and colors of it but I wasn't in love with the three tired maxi length since I was wanting a mini skirt. So after checking the price tag to see that it was a bargain, I bought it and when I got home took my trusty fabric scissors to it. Lo and behold- a floral ruffle mini skirt.

While, all of you may not want to take the creative challenge, which I totally understand, I have linked a similar maxi skirt here for those who want to try and for those who want one with no hassle I have a tagged one up above.

Had I not been frolicking around barefoot with fresh outta the shower hair in the Arizona heat, I would have paired this look with tan chelsea boots and my brixton cap. This is how I styled my chunky sweater and feminine floral skirt.
